Select one of the childhood disorders (Anxiety disorder) studied in Essay

Select one of the childhood disorders (Anxiety disorder) studied in the secont half of this module and critically examine the implications for development - Essay Example Anxiety gives a sense of worry, panic, fear and distress to an individual if faced by it. But on the other hand anxiety is a sense of feeling faced by everyone at one time in his lifetime and so it is very important to distinguish between the normal levels of anxiety and the pathological levels of anxiety (Maddocks et al 1994). This can be distinguished clearly if one analyzes the levels of distress faced by children in their life and the effect of this distress on the normal behaviours of the child. Anxiety disorders can be of many types which need to be diagnosed properly to know as to which type of disorder the child is facing with. Generalized Anxiety Disorder shows the symptoms of worry and uneasiness which occurs for a transient period only. The child usually faces the problems of muscle fatigue, lack of concentration, restlessness and tetchiness. Maternal Anxiety Disorder is caused because of stressful conditions faced by the mother while she is pregnant. These children show increased signs of anxiety at the age of 5 years and 6 months (Martin et al., 1999). This usually happens because of gene transmission from the stressed mother to the developing embryo. Moreover if the mother is stressed she would not be able to take proper care of the child and this would lead to anxiety disorder in the child. Another type of Separation Anxiety Disorder occurs when a child is separated from an individual who is very close to him. This is the most common type of anxiety disorder which is seen in 50% of all anxiety treatments (Bell-Dolan 1995). This can be clearly witnessed in real life situations when a mother is first going to drop his soon to attend kindergarten but he is not willing to go. Phobias may also show a sign of anxiety disorder. It usually occurs in children who are faced with intense fear when they are faced with a certain situation or object. The fear

In regards to this research, the secondary data used are gathered from the Internet, journals and other publications in order to get basic information about the nature of the health reformation within the organization. The research and the methodologies of this paper are basically qualitative in nature. The primary resources are there in this paper to prove the solid statements. However, the secondary resources are also very much important to prove the practical viewpoints of this particular paper. The data collection method is one of the most important actions in the organizational research work. The primary and secondary data are compiled in a proper blend to fetch the ultimate result. However, in this case the questionnaires were very much prominent. However, the proposed number of questions to be fil led for any research is around 25-30, where minimum 20-25 questions suppose to be answered to get a good result. However, the missing count can be taken as the margin of error, or their stipulated feedbacks could have taken as the average feedbacks. In this particular paper the five major methodologies for the research work are 1: Interview, 2: Surveys, 3: Focus group, 4: observation and 5: internal data. Among all of these the most important method is the interview and the survey. These two methods give the ultimate feedback of the employees towards the improvement of the health related issues within the organization. Data collection is one of the most important part I the research process. The data collection can be taken from the interview process of from the internal data or most of the time for the effective survey within the projected sample size for the research. However, all of the research methods are equally important prove the relevance of the research work and to predict the fruitful outcome of the research for the betterment of the health reform within the organizations. The relevance of the secondary data is very much important to justify this particular paper and that is the reason the selected five methodologies are chosen to collect the secondary data to support the study. All the five methods are discussed bellow. 1. Interview: In rearview has been taken as one of the most effective research method for collecting the secondary data from the focus group. Personal interview with the projected employees within the organization for their expectation and complains about the present health related issues are very much productive in case of finding the proper solution. There are some numbers of factors which are very much important for conducting an effective interview process. These number of factors need to be taken very seriously in designing the interview process. The basic concept of the interview is to exchange the verbal and written expressio n of the participant towards the projected questions (Watson, , p 282). The research interviews must be recorded so they can be analyzed afterwards. Most of the time, these interviews are generally audiotaped. The interviewed data are transcribed into text for the data analysis. In this case the different people from different organizations ate taken under consideration for the interview pro

Analysis and Evaluation of the service concept of Nando's restaurant Essay

Analysis and Evaluation of the service concept of Nando's restaurant - Essay Example hoven brought the franchising rights of Nando’s in the United Kingdom, and opened its first oversees outlet in Ealing Common, West London (Sawyer, 2010). At first, the restaurant functioned as a simple chicken and chips takeaway, however after realizing that this system of service delivery was not nearly as successful in the UK as it was in South Africa. Enthoven was credited for changing Nando’s operation style into a system in which the customers paid at the till and collected their own cutlery, an operation style that revolutionized public dining in the United Kingdom. Since the opening of its first overseas franchise in Ealing, Nando’s has experienced rapid expansion, with currently 290 outlets across the UK, and 1025 outlets in over 20 different countries across the globe (Nandos, 2013). A number of factors have led to Nando’s rise in popularity, especially in the UK. However, due to the brand’s severe lack of advertising, it is hard to look beyond the restaurant’s simple and unique service concept, as well as, of course, the delicious taste of its food, when crediting its success (Baker, 2004) . This report aims to analyze and evaluate the Nando’s service concept, as well as recommend ways in which the restaurant could further improve on its dramatic success in the future. The hospitality industry has so far experienced changes overtime. The level of competition in the service industry is increasingly becoming stiffer by day. Nando’s is well positioned to survive the competitions by implementing well-thought recommendations (Lanchester, 2011). The Nando’s service concept differentiates among its different outlets around the world, depending on the location of the restaurant. For the purpose of this assignment, I will be analyzing the Nando’s service concept for its UK outlets only. The core product that Nando’s sets out to deliver is its food, particularly its Portuguese style, flame-grilled chicken. Nando’s is known for offering

Implenting Lean Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Implenting Lean - Case Study Example (Womack and Jones, 1996). USA was the first country where the concept of "Lean" has been adopted in service or non-manufacturing concerns. (Womack and Jones, 1996). The advantages and benefits are now known and accepted by almost all top managers. However, there is still a bit of a hesitation in implementing "Lean" in service and non-manufacturing organizations. The reason is not that they do not want to implement the change but rather because they are unaware of the process involved. This paper seeks to describe the modalities and implications of implementing "Lean" in service and non-manufacturing organizations with a reference to the concept of Kaizen as a Continuous Improvement (CI) agent. Simply stated, Lean thinking is about achieving more with less. It is not about 'sweating the assets' but about carefully analyzing how best to achieve a given result with the purpose of utilizing resources to their best advantage. In broad terms Lean is usually defined as elimination of waste and things that do not add any value as defined by the customer. It is also pertinent to note at this stage that "Lean" principles are alternatively known by a number of synonyms e.g. Lean Manufacturing, Lean Production, Toyota Production System, etc. But whatever the name given to the process, this definition holds well. Advantages of Lean in Service Organizations Lean is not just a concept to be implemented at various tiers; it is also a commitment at all levels that can bring about dynamic and far-reaching changes in the very culture of an organization. Its advantages are more pronounced and identifiable in manufacturing concerns but service and non-manufacturing organizations can also reap the same benefits. Some of the advantages of implementing Lean in service environment are as follows:- It can not only improve the standard of services but also increase the competitiveness of the people involved. It can resolve severe organizational problems by uniting the change efforts

China's pollution Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

China's pollution - Research Paper Example This essay will focus and discuss the environmental challenges in China, the causes and how environmental pollution affects the people1. In my research, the weather has appeared to be the main cause of flooding in China. People in China happen to prefer flooding areas without considering the negative effects that floods have in their lives. Hence, it happens that the areas that experience floods are the most populated areas in the country. The high populations in such areas increase the ability of the areas to be struck by floods. Crowded areas have increased surface run-off that flows into the rivers causing the breaking of their banks, hence flooding. Places with high populations need to be watched carefully to ensure that help always give whenever it is needed.2 Floods have a lot of negative effects on the lives of the people. According to research, the air pollution in China has been considered to be one of the worst. The increased air pollution in China has caused the big population of China several respiratory diseases. Women suffer the biggest effects of the pollution having biggest numbers of lung cancer.3In most cases, it happens to women who live near industrialized areas. The increased air pollution in China is caused by mostly its increased production activities of their industries. During the production, the industries emit smoke that has sulfur dioxide in the air which is harmful to the human body when inhaled. China also relies heavily on coal for their energy production. This also has played a big part in the polluting of air in China. The combustion of coal sends some unwanted gasses and smoke into the air and smoke that may lead to the greenhouse effect apart from air pollution3.Manufacturing industries and cars also play a major role in the pollution of air in China. Most experts have blam ed the coal-burning that produces their energy and highly support their economic growth4.The emission of sulfur

How Exterior Environments Effect The Home Depot Corporation Term Paper

How Exterior Environments Effect The Home Depot Corporation - Term Paper Example vironments, since the challenges brought in by these environments are sometimes considered instrumental in making organisations devise mechanisms of overcoming the challenges. The facet of any business operations is to make profit. However, for any organisation to maintain competitive advantage, several factors dictate the success of developing and maintaining competitive advantage. According to Aquinas (2008), one of these factors is the external environments such as social, cultural, religious, legal and political environments. This paper will articulate on these factors and outline their influences on businesses and particularly on The Home Depot Corporation. Apart from internal operations of an organisation, each of the above mentioned external factors have been identified as potential influences of the business. Each of these factors affects businesses in different ways. Nevertheless, the line of business and market determines the level of control that these environments have on the business. For instance, a fast food business would be influenced differently by culture as opposed to how a clothing business would be influenced by the same. In some sit uations, the external environment has been argued to have configured the internal operations of an organisation, something that leads to slow development or boosts organisations returns (Markham, 2011). For instance, cultural factors may force an organisation to design or come up with new products that suits the culture of the target market. Political factors may force organisations to operate under the current political environment, something that may end up affecting the business operations that can lead to losses or slow development. Hatch & Cunliffe (2013) argued that organisations that want to maintain competitive advantage must show their willingness to participating in corporate social responsibility (Parboteeah, & Cullen, 2013). Social responsibility entails handing back to the society by supporting

Technological developments Essay Example for Free

Technological developments Essay Football boots are light weight and are made of such materials as kangaroo leather. Most top level players have sock-liners which fit with the contours of foot to provide extra comfort and strategically-placed traction blades provide maximum grip. Football boots help with a player grip, acceleration and turning ability. Footballs have had technological advancements such as having air retention system, being high density and having a high abrasion surface which provides extra durability. The match balls played with in the premiership is precision engineered to exact standards to ensure that it is produced to within 3g of its ideal weight and to an exact circumference of 68. 5cm. The benefits of the newer footballs are the increased swerve that the ball offers and a better accuracy of passing. Gloves The latest pair of reusch goalie gloves helps to prevent injury to the goalies hands through reusch Ortho-Tec glove which provides protection for vulnerable areas of the hand. The gloves upper hand is reinforced in a way that the fingers including the thumb are braced against forces occurring during a balls impact. The system not only prevents injuries, it is also suitable to disburden and protect an injury already sustained. Gloves have also been adapted to different weather conditions as well; gloves are made from soft latex foam with excellent properties for use in various weather conditions. Goalie gloves benefit the goalie by mainly by providing extra grip and power. Shirts The material design of footballs shirts have improved to provide better comfort. The new Manchester United kit incorporates Nikes new dri-fit technology. Dri wit wicks sweat away so that the player stays dry and comfortable. It also has strategically placed mesh panels that promote air cooling where heat is most generated. Facility design features and benefits Retractable roof The millennium stadium in Cardiff has a retractable roof which means that the roof can be closed if the weather forecast predicts heavy rain. This benefits the game itself and the fans. It saves the fans from getting soaked and it saves the players having to slosh around in mud. Mostly cup finals are played at the Millennium stadium and the fans wish the game to be viewed on a nice good to firm ground not a wet one. Undersoil heating Is valuable asset and a must for all big football clubs. It can allow a team to play or train on a pitch that the weather would otherwise have made unusable or it can generally soften up the ground for training purposes. Astroturf pitches For training purposes Astroturf is of benefit to players because Astroturf is all weather, meaning that when the players unable to play on their training pitch die to water logging they can go and train on the Astroturf pitch instead. Video Analysis Andy Gray is probably the most renowned broadcast analyst in the football industry. He has a 30 minute slot after most live sky matches in which he practically dissects the game explaining the reasons goals were score and analysing player performance. Racquets Tennis has changed drastically since the huge investment in technological advancements the main one being the racquets. They now look completely different to those of 20 years ago, they are now lighter, and have larger faces and shorter shafts. This has created a larger sweet spot and has encouraged players to increase their power. By increasing power to a phenomenal level the game is often much shorter as the serve can kill a game off. This is mainly because the way in which the rackets have been made. This has made tennis players adjust everything about their game, from positioning, this is now further back for the serve, to two-handed return to try and increase power. The player now trains more on power based activity service technique. Trainers Tennis shoes have changed greatly over the years. Reebok have recently developed the DMX technology. This is a sole that claims to reduce the stress on the legs and heels when running; it does this by shifting the force of the impact across a wider area on the foot. This material is also light and so is easy to run in and can help to improve performance. Another company big among tennis players is New Balance who also have their own suspension system. This consists of various different parts of a sole that all work together to reduce the impact on the foot as well as stability in the way that it reduces rolling of the foot as well as over pronation. New Balance also have a brand, called Abzorb SBS, it has been developed so that when impact with the ground has been made the technology displaces the energy over the whole foot. Asics developed gel technology in their trainers nearly 20 years ago and it is still in their trainers today, the silicon gel attenuates the shock made on impact and works in conjunction with the lateral rear foot flex grooves within the sole to improve comfort. Tennis Balls There are different types of tennis balls depending on what surface the game is played on. Some balls are designed for hardcourt and grass, while others are designed for clay courts. The ball can vary by about 1/8 of an inch in size and 1/16th of an ounce in weight. Its rebound height can vary almost 10%. The stiffness, defined by the deformation under pressure, can vary over 5%. The benefits of the different types of tennis balls are that a player can choose a set of tennis balls depending on his style of play or the type of court he is playing on. Shirts Top players such as Raphael Nadal are sponsored to wear Nikes dri-fit range of shirts. This shirt has all the benefits that I described earlier regarding those in football who dri-fit. Other benefits of the shirts are that they have the seams sewn flat to eliminate chafing. Facility design features and benefits Fast Dry Courts Whats new is that todays courts are being watered from underneath. This changes a lot of things, not the least of which is the way fast dry courts play. The benefit of the fast dry court is that it allows players to play when they would otherwise not be able to. These types of dry court surfaces dont get saturated with water and water is not allowed to seep into the base material. Cyclops Cyclops technology helps tennis umpires by emitting a loud beep when a ball lands outside the service area. This helps the umpire with important decisions that could decide big matches such as Wimbledon or the Davis cup. Hawkeye Hawkeye is being tested at the moment before being used in all 4 majors. It has been used in the Australian open where it helps the umpire to make line calls. The benefits to tennis is that if accurate hawkeye will give us a fair tennis result there will be no more John McEnroes I dont believe it just a fair accurate result. PRM PRM has been developed by IBM to help the players and coaches plan their tactics for the tournament. Vital match data is gathered by courtside experts and fed instantly via powerful IBM servers to coaches and players in formats suited to their specific needs. With this data to hand, they can iron out their game, or use it to find weaknesses in their next opponents, which makes for better games. Compare the benefits of technological developments on equipment and facility design in two contrasting sports
